The bar chart below shows the percentage of Australian men and women in different age groups who did regular physical activity in 2010.

Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.

Student answer (Band 6.5)

The bar chart gives information about the proportion of individuals doing daily exercises in terms of gender and age group in Australia in 2010.

Overall, two main statistics can be observed. First, young and elderly men have practically the same rate as the opposite gender identity.

As the graph shows, roughly half of the young men worked out a daily basis, being 52 per cent in 2010. Whereas, women were marginally lower at 47 per cent. While, elderly individuals have notably lowerrates, at 46 and 47 per cent for males and females, respectively.

In contrast, middle-aged adults, who are people from age 25 to age 64, have notably bigger gaps varying at 13 and 6 per cent. Furthermore, the community in middle adulthood, have the biggest difference, with a female portion of approximately 52 and male at 40. Showing huge changes in the lifestyle of men and females staying the same.
