Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
You have successfully identified the main features of the bar chart and provided relevant comparisons between age groups and genders. You covered all age categories and highlighted the key trend that women were generally more active than men. However, the report is slightly hampered by some inaccuracies in data reporting (e.g., stating 'men and women was stayed at the same percentage' when the figures differ) and some confusing phrasing regarding the age groups. To improve, ensure that your data points are precise and that your comparisons are clearly linked to the specific age brackets provided in the chart.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The response is organized into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the information. You use some cohesive devices like 'Overall', 'In addition', and 'Moreover' to link ideas. However, the flow is occasionally disrupted by awkward sentence structures and grammatical errors that make the progression of ideas feel mechanical. The referencing is sometimes unclear, particularly when comparing age groups across genders. To reach a higher band, focus on using a wider variety of linking words and ensuring that each sentence logically follows the previous one without needing to re-read for clarity.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.5
Your vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, allowing you to describe the trends and data points effectively. You use terms like 'proportion', 'age bracket', and 'regular physical activity' appropriately. However, there are some word-choice errors, such as 'mens group' instead of 'men's group' and 'regularly decline' instead of 'regularly declined'. There is also some repetition of basic verbs. To improve, try to incorporate more precise vocabulary for describing trends, such as 'fluctuated', 'remained stable', or 'surpassed', and pay closer attention to word forms and possessive apostrophes.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
You attempt a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but the accuracy is inconsistent. There are frequent errors in subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'men and women was stayed', 'men were rise downward') and missing articles or prepositions. These errors are noticeable and occasionally make the meaning difficult to grasp, although they do not completely impede communication. To improve, focus on mastering basic subject-verb agreement and the correct use of past tense verbs when describing data from 2010. Proofreading for common slips like 'mens' vs 'men's' will also significantly improve your score.
