Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response covers all requirements of the task. You have successfully identified the main trends and made relevant comparisons between genders across the age groups. The overview is clear and highlights the key features, such as the general trend of women being more active and the exception found in the youngest age group. The data is accurately reported, and you have included specific figures to support your points. To reach a higher band, ensure that all comparisons are fully developed; for instance, when mentioning that women were 'almost 10 percent higher' in the 45-54 age group, you could explicitly state the male figure to provide a more direct comparison.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The response is logically organized, with a clear introduction, overview, and body paragraphs that group information by age categories. The progression of ideas is easy to follow. You use a range of cohesive devices such as 'To commence with', 'Moreover', and 'Furthermore' to link your points. However, some transitions feel slightly mechanical or repetitive. The referencing is generally clear, though the flow between sentences could be improved by varying the structure of your comparisons rather than relying on similar sentence patterns for each age group.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'proportion', 'regularly', and 'vis-à-vis'. There are some minor inaccuracies in word choice, such as 'regarding plenty of age groups' and 'exceptional', which is not the most precise term for this context. Additionally, '53 on the dot' is too informal for an academic report. To improve, focus on using more precise academic collocations and avoiding informal phrasing. You have sufficient vocabulary to convey your meaning clearly, but expanding your range of reporting verbs and comparative language would enhance the quality of your writing.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, which is appropriate for this task. There are some grammatical errors, such as 'women and men were reported as 48.9 and 42.2, respectively' (missing units/percentages) and 'the women are more active' (unnecessary article). Some phrasing is slightly awkward, such as 'people over 65 years had nearly similar levels of doing physical activity'. While these errors do not impede communication, they occur frequently enough to prevent a higher score. Focusing on subject-verb agreement and the correct use of articles will help improve your accuracy.
