Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response attempts to summarize the data but fails to provide a clear overview or accurately report the main features. The information is presented in a fragmented way, and the analysis of the data is often inaccurate (e.g., claiming men had the lowest percentage across all age groups, which contradicts the chart). The inclusion of personal speculation about 'daily home work' is inappropriate for an Academic Task 1, as the task requires an objective summary of the provided data only. To improve, focus on identifying the highest and lowest points and comparing trends between genders without adding external opinions.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The essay uses basic cohesive devices like 'Firstly', 'secondly', and 'In conclusion', but these are used mechanically and do not always create a logical flow. Paragraphing is present, but the internal structure of the paragraphs is weak, making it difficult to follow the comparison between age groups. The referencing is sometimes unclear, and the progression of ideas is disjointed. To improve, use a wider variety of linking words and ensure that each paragraph focuses on a clear, distinct aspect of the data, such as comparing age groups or identifying overall trends.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is limited and repetitive, relying on basic terms like 'percentage', 'activity', and 'age groups'. There are several errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'fell down overall the age' and 'great exersize'. The spelling of 'exersize' (exercise) and 'bigest' (biggest) also indicates a need for more attention to accuracy. To reach a higher band, you should aim to use more precise vocabulary to describe trends, such as 'fluctuated', 'remained stable', or 'a significant disparity', and ensure correct spelling throughout the text.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The response relies heavily on simple sentence structures, and there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede communication. Examples include subject-verb agreement issues ('women has highest', 'they was very active') and incorrect preposition usage ('at the age of 15 to 24'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with the use of commas. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction, specifically subject-verb agreement and the correct use of articles. Attempting more complex structures, such as relative clauses or comparative forms, would also help demonstrate a wider grammatical range.
