Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response covers all age groups and genders, providing data for each. However, the analysis is largely a list of figures rather than a summary of main features and trends. The overview provided in the second paragraph is vague and inaccurate (e.g., stating 'the most elderly people have no change in percentages' is not supported by the data, which shows 46.7% and 47.1%). To improve, you should group data to highlight trends, such as noting that women generally participated in more physical activity than men in the older age brackets, rather than listing every individual percentage point.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The essay is organized into three paragraphs, which is a logical structure for a report. However, the progression of ideas is mechanical. The use of cohesive devices is limited and sometimes repetitive (e.g., 'the 25 to 34 men are of... and women are of...'). The second paragraph is essentially a long, run-on list of data points, which makes it difficult to follow the comparison. Using more varied linking words and grouping information by trend rather than by age group would significantly improve the flow and coherence of the response.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is somewhat repetitive and basic. Phrases like 'are of' or 'are at' are used repeatedly to introduce data, which lacks sophistication. There are also some awkward word choices, such as 'alternative age groups' (instead of 'different' or 'various') and 'noticeable space' (instead of 'significant difference'). To reach a higher band, you should use a wider range of reporting verbs and nouns to describe the data, such as 'exceeded', 'accounted for', 'a marginal difference', or 'a substantial gap'.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The response contains a mix of simple and some complex structures, but there are frequent errors in grammar and punctuation. For example, 'the 35 to 44 women are in lead with 52.5% and men are at 39,5%' contains a comma splice and an incorrect decimal format (39,5 instead of 39.5). Additionally, the sentence structure in the second paragraph is often fragmented or run-on, which hinders readability. Improving control over punctuation and sentence boundaries is essential for a higher score.
