The bar chart below shows the percentage of Australian men and women in different age groups who did regular physical activity in 2010.

Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.

Student answer (Band 6.0)

The given vertical column graph depicts the information about the percentage of Australian men and women in different age groups who did regular physical activity in 2010. The data has been calibrated in percentage.

Overall, it is crystal clear that the highest percentile of masses doing regular physical activity was in the age group of 15-24 while, the lowest proportion was in 35 to 44 age group of regular exercise.

At a fleeting glance, in age group 15 to 24 the proportion of regular physical activity was around 52.8% by males, which was followed by the females around 47.7% of the same age group. Furthermore, in 25 to 34 age group of males the ratio was around 42.2% and but was climbed up to 48.9% in females. Significantly, only 39.5% males aged 35 to 44 were doing regular exercise while, females were 52.5%.

Moving further, in 45 to 54 aged people the percentage in females was steadily increasing to 53.3%, whereas in males the ratio plunge to 43.1%. In age group of 55 to 64 of females the percentage remain stable at 53%, while in males the ratio rises to 45.1%. Lastly, people aged around 65 and over the percentage in males and females was approximately similar about 47%.
