Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response provides a clear overview and selects key features from the chart. You successfully identified the main trends, such as the higher participation of females in the 15-24 age group and the dominance of males in middle age. However, the report lacks precision in data presentation. For instance, you mention '45 to 54 and 55 to 64 age people' but the chart labels are '45-54' and '55-64'. Additionally, the summary of the 65+ group is slightly inaccurate regarding the gender comparison. To improve, ensure that data points are transcribed exactly and that comparisons are explicitly linked to the provided figures to avoid over-generalisation.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The response is organised into logical paragraphs, moving from an overview to specific age-group details. You use cohesive devices such as 'Overall', 'Moreover', and 'Furthermore' to link ideas. However, the flow is occasionally hindered by awkward phrasing and mechanical transitions. For example, 'rest of the age groups like 25 to 34, 35 to 44 and 65 and above are also shows significant comparison' is vague and does not clearly connect to the previous sentence. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring that each paragraph has a clear topic sentence would enhance the overall coherence of the report.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is adequate for the task, allowing you to describe trends and percentages. You use terms like 'percentage', 'active', and 'significant comparison'. However, there are frequent errors in word choice and word form, such as 'acquire' instead of 'recorded' or 'achieved', and 'mans' instead of 'men'. These errors are noticeable and occasionally distract the reader. To reach a higher band, focus on using more precise academic vocabulary related to data description, such as 'proportion', 'fluctuated', or 'surpassed', and ensure correct pluralisation and word forms are used consistently throughout the text.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The response contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with subject-verb agreement ('the highest percentage is acquire', 'rest of the age groups... are also shows') and article usage ('In a age group'). Additionally, there are issues with prepositional phrases and sentence construction, such as 'females are more do regular exercise then man'. These errors occur throughout the text. To improve, focus on basic sentence construction, specifically ensuring that verbs agree with their subjects and that comparative structures are used accurately.
