Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response covers the main features of the data, but it lacks a clear, analytical overview. While you have listed the percentages for most age groups, you have not effectively grouped or compared the data to highlight trends. For instance, you mention that men are more active overall, but this is not supported by a clear synthesis of the data provided in the body paragraphs. To reach a higher band, ensure you identify the most significant differences and similarities rather than simply listing figures for each age group sequentially. The final sentence is a good start for an overview, but it should be placed after the introduction to provide a clearer summary of the main trends.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The response is organized into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the progression of ideas is somewhat mechanical. You rely heavily on listing data points rather than using cohesive devices to link comparisons. For example, the transition between the age groups could be smoother. While you use some linking words like 'Furthermore' and 'Overall', the internal cohesion within paragraphs is repetitive, often starting sentences with 'In the age group of...' or 'From the age group of...'. Varying your sentence starters and using more sophisticated referencing would improve the flow and logical progression of your report.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

Your vocabulary is adequate for the task, but it is quite repetitive. You frequently use the phrases 'engaged in the physical activities' and 'into physical activities'. To improve, you should use a wider range of synonyms and collocations to describe participation in exercise, such as 'participated in regular physical activity', 'maintained an active lifestyle', or 'showed higher levels of physical engagement'. There are also some minor inaccuracies in word choice, such as 'men were only 47.7 percent', which should be phrased as 'the figure for men was 47.7 percent'. Expanding your lexical range will help you convey information with more precision.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The response uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally affect clarity. For example, 'the 52.8 percent of women' is incorrect; it should be '52.8 percent of women'. Additionally, there are missing words, such as 'only 39.5 percent of were taking part', where the subject is missing. You also have inconsistent phrasing, such as '53 percent men' instead of '53 percent of men'. While these errors do not completely impede communication, they are frequent enough to prevent a higher score. Focusing on subject-verb agreement and correct article usage will significantly improve your accuracy.
