Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response covers the main features of the chart, such as the high activity levels in the 15-24 age group and the crossover in trends for older age groups. However, the analysis is somewhat superficial and contains inaccuracies. For instance, the claim that 45-54-year-old women have the highest activity levels is not clearly supported by the data provided. Additionally, the description of the trends is occasionally confusing, such as the statement that 'after the 44 ages the men percentage is climbed', which is imprecise. To improve, ensure that data points are cited accurately and that the summary highlights clear, logical trends rather than listing individual figures without sufficient synthesis.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is organised into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is mechanical and sometimes awkward, such as the repetitive use of 'the age group' and 'do the'. The progression of ideas is occasionally disjointed, particularly in the transition between the first and second body paragraphs. While the overall arrangement is coherent enough to be understood, the lack of varied linking words and the repetitive sentence structure limit the flow of the text. Improving the use of referencing (e.g., 'the former', 'the latter') would enhance the cohesion.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is limited and repetitive, relying heavily on basic phrases like 'do the' and 'highest numbers'. There are also issues with word choice and collocation, such as 'ration decrease' (likely meant 'ratio' or 'percentage') and '44 ages' (should be 'age of 44'). The range of vocabulary is insufficient to demonstrate flexibility or precision. To reach a higher band, you should incorporate more varied verbs and nouns related to data description, such as 'fluctuate', 'decline', 'peak', or 'proportion', and avoid repeating the same sentence structures.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The response relies on simple sentence structures, and there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. Examples include 'the young men do the highest numbers of physical activities' (incorrect article/plural usage), 'women percentage is increased reach at the 48.9%' (incorrect verb tense and preposition usage), and 'after the 44 ages the men percentage is climbed' (incorrect passive/active voice usage). There is a lack of complex sentence structures, which is necessary for higher bands. Focusing on subject-verb agreement and the correct use of articles would significantly improve the accuracy of your writing.
