Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response covers all parts of the task and provides a clear overview of the main trends. You successfully identified the key comparison between genders and the age-related fluctuations. However, the data reporting is occasionally imprecise. For example, stating 'female fall at 39.5%' is grammatically awkward and lacks clarity regarding the specific age group being referenced. Additionally, the description of the 35-54 age range is slightly confusing due to the way the data points are grouped. To improve, ensure that each data point is clearly linked to the correct category and age group to avoid ambiguity for the reader.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is logically organized with a clear introduction, overview, and body paragraphs. You use cohesive devices such as 'In contrast', 'To begin with', and 'While' to connect ideas effectively. However, the paragraphing is slightly uneven, and some transitions feel a bit mechanical. The referencing is generally clear, but there are instances where the flow is interrupted by awkward phrasing, such as the transition between the 35-44 and 45-54 age groups. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring smoother transitions between sentences would help elevate the coherence of your writing.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'proportion', 'surpassed', and 'identical'. There are some attempts at less common vocabulary, but these are occasionally used with slight inaccuracies, such as 'climbed with an incline of 2%'. While the vocabulary is sufficient to convey the main points, it lacks the precision and flexibility required for a higher band. Focusing on more natural collocations and avoiding repetitive phrasing will help improve your lexical score.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, which is appropriate for this task. However, there are several grammatical errors that occur throughout the text, such as 'almost in all age group men surpassed women' (should be 'in almost all age groups') and 'female fall at 39.5%' (should be 'the figure for females fell to 39.5%'). These errors do not impede communication, but they are frequent enough to prevent a higher score. Paying closer attention to subject-verb agreement and article usage would significantly improve the accuracy of your writing.
