Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response attempts to address the task by summarizing the provided bar chart. However, the information is presented in a confusing and often inaccurate manner. For instance, the claim that the highest ratio is 52.8 in the 15-24 age group is correct, but the subsequent descriptions of trends are difficult to follow due to poor sentence structure and unclear comparisons. The report lacks a clear overview of the main trends, and the data points are often misquoted or poorly contextualized. To improve, focus on identifying the most significant features—such as the peak age groups for both genders—and describing them clearly without listing every single data point in a disjointed way.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The essay lacks logical progression. While there is an attempt at paragraphing, the internal structure of the sentences is highly fragmented, making it difficult for the reader to follow the comparison between age groups. Cohesive devices are either missing or used incorrectly, such as the awkward transition 'In during' and the repetitive use of 'age group of'. The relationship between ideas is often unclear, and the lack of proper punctuation further hinders the flow of information. To improve, use clear linking words like 'whereas', 'in contrast', or 'similarly' to connect ideas and ensure each sentence builds logically upon the previous one.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is limited and often repetitive. Phrases like 'well performing of physical activity' and 'not doing well performance' are unnatural and imprecise. There is a reliance on basic terminology, and the student struggles to use appropriate collocations for describing statistical data. For example, 'ratio' is used incorrectly to describe a percentage, and 'drop' and 'rise' are used as nouns in a way that does not fit the grammatical context. To reach a higher band, you should learn specific vocabulary for describing trends, such as 'fluctuate', 'peak at', 'remain stable', and 'show a downward trend'.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The response contains frequent grammatical errors that impede communication. There are significant issues with sentence construction, such as 'the physical activity highest ration is 52.8 in 15 to 24 age group of male', which lacks proper articles and correct prepositional usage. Subject-verb agreement is inconsistent, and the attempt to use complex structures often results in ungrammatical phrasing. Punctuation is also problematic, with missing spaces after periods and commas. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence patterns (Subject + Verb + Object) before attempting more complex structures, and pay close attention to the correct use of articles and prepositions.
