IELTS Writing Task 1 question

The bar chart below shows the percentage of Australian men and women in different age groups who did regular physical activity in 2010.

Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.

Student answer (Band 6.5)

Thr bar chart compares the proportion of males and females in distinct age groups who took part in physical activity in 2010.

Overall, it is evident that females(45-54) recorded the largest propotion among categories. Generally, females dominated in all groups except the group age 15 to 24 of males.

Females had the highest share of 53.3%, while males had 43.1% in age 45-54. Similarly, in the group age 55-64, women consisted 53%, whereas men presented 45.1%. This was followed by group age 35 to 44, en made up 39.5% which was considerably the lowest compared to female (by 13 percentage points).

By comparison, males had the highest percentage of 52.8% which was higher than 47.7% of females in the category of 15 to 24 age. In contrast, Males was relatively lower than females by 6.8 percentage points in the group of 25 to 34. Conversly, 65 and above age group had almost the same share among all the caregories.
