Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 150 words, which negatively impacts the score. While you have identified some key features, such as the highest and lowest figures, the analysis is somewhat superficial. You have not fully compared the data across all age groups, and the summary lacks a clear overview of the trends. To improve, ensure you cover all categories provided in the chart and provide a more comprehensive comparison between genders. The under-length nature of the response means that the task is not fully addressed.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is organised into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is somewhat mechanical and occasionally awkward, such as 'On one hand' and 'On the other hand', which are not used effectively to contrast the data. The progression of ideas is present but could be smoother. Referencing is sometimes unclear, and the logical flow between sentences could be improved to better connect the comparisons being made.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks the precision and range expected at higher bands. Phrases like 'doing physical activity on regular basis' and 'mostly fitness oriented' are slightly unnatural. There is some repetition of basic terms like 'regular physical activity'. To achieve a higher score, try to incorporate more varied synonyms and precise collocations related to data reporting, such as 'participated in', 'engaged in', or 'a significant proportion of'.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The response contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are several grammatical errors that hinder clarity. For example, 'females dominated the male' should be 'females dominated the males', and 'The least were male' is grammatically incorrect. There are also issues with article usage and pluralisation, such as 'Most of the male are holding'. While these errors do not completely impede communication, they occur frequently enough to limit the score.
