Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response covers the main features of the chart, including the overall trend and specific comparisons between age groups. However, the data reporting is somewhat imprecise. For example, stating that women's participation 'nearly stay[s] stable' at 53% is inaccurate, as the data shows fluctuations across the age brackets. Additionally, the description of the 35-64 age group is vague, grouping several categories together without sufficient detail. To reach a higher band, you should ensure that the data points cited are accurate and that you clearly distinguish between the different age segments provided in the chart.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is organised into logical paragraphs, with an introduction, body paragraphs for specific age groups, and a concluding overview. Cohesive devices such as 'Furthermore', 'In addition', and 'However' are used to link ideas. However, the flow is occasionally hindered by awkward phrasing, such as 'opposite once' and 'same phenomenon follow'. While the paragraphing is appropriate, the internal cohesion within sentences could be improved by using more varied and precise linking structures to ensure a smoother progression of information.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, allowing for the description of trends and comparisons. However, there are several instances of unnatural word choice and collocation errors, such as 'male gender' and 'female gender' used repeatedly, and the phrase 'opposite once' which is unclear. The range of vocabulary is somewhat limited and repetitive. To improve, focus on using more precise terminology for data description, such as 'proportion', 'participation rate', or 'fluctuated', and avoid redundant phrasing.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The response contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. Subject-verb agreement is a recurring issue, for example, 'men and women who does' (should be 'do') and 'female does' (should be 'females do'). There are also errors in tense and preposition usage, such as 'in the age group of more than 65 years have' and 'compare to opposite once'. While the meaning is generally understandable, these persistent errors prevent the response from reaching a higher band.
