Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response covers the main features of the bar chart, including comparisons between genders and age groups. However, the overview is somewhat repetitive and lacks a clear synthesis of the data trends. While the key figures are reported, the analysis is occasionally hindered by awkward phrasing, such as 'very much intended to do their activity', which obscures the data's meaning. To improve, focus on grouping the data more logically—perhaps by identifying the age groups where women outperformed men versus those where men were more active—rather than listing every data point sequentially. This would provide a more analytical summary rather than a simple description.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is organised into paragraphs, but the logical progression is weak. The use of cohesive devices is often mechanical or inaccurate, such as the phrase 'On the other hand hand' (which contains a typo) and the transition 'Similar routine with age group'. These transitions do not effectively link the ideas or show the relationship between the data points. The referencing is sometimes unclear, making it difficult for the reader to follow the comparison between the various age groups. Improving the variety and accuracy of linking words would help the ideas flow more naturally.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is adequate for the task but lacks precision and variety. There are several instances of awkward word choice and collocation errors, such as 'follow little more physical activity' and 'peaked percentage'. The range is limited, and the student relies on basic descriptors to explain the data. To reach a higher band, you should incorporate more precise terminology related to data description, such as 'proportion', 'exceeded', 'marginal difference', or 'consistently higher'. Expanding your range of academic vocabulary will allow for a more sophisticated presentation of the information.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The response contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. Issues include subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'The given bar chart illustrate'), missing articles, and awkward sentence construction (e.g., 'women followed their daily routine till more 48.9%'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with the use of commas in long, run-on sentences. While the meaning is generally understandable, the frequency of these errors prevents the writing from reaching a higher band. Focusing on basic sentence structure and proofreading for subject-verb agreement would significantly improve the quality.
