Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
You have successfully identified the main features of the chart and made relevant comparisons between the age groups and genders. You provided specific data points to support your observations, which is excellent. However, the report could be improved by ensuring the overview is more comprehensive. While you mentioned the highest and lowest points, a more analytical summary would group the trends more effectively. For instance, noting that women generally participated more in physical activity across the middle age brackets would have strengthened the response. Overall, you have covered all parts of the task well, though some of the data presentation could be more concise to avoid repetition.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is logically organized with a clear introduction, body paragraphs, and an overview. You use cohesive devices such as 'On the other hand', 'As we can see', and 'respectively' to link ideas. However, the transition between sentences is sometimes a bit mechanical, and the paragraphing could be improved by grouping the data more logically rather than jumping between age groups. For example, the final paragraph feels slightly disjointed as it attempts to summarize multiple trends at once. Improving the flow between sentences would help the reader follow your analysis more smoothly.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
You have a sufficient range of vocabulary to convey the information clearly. You use terms like 'illustrates', 'percentage', and 'regular physical activity' appropriately. However, there is some repetition of phrases such as 'did physical activity' and 'age group'. To reach a higher band, try to use more varied synonyms or paraphrasing, such as 'engaged in exercise', 'participated in physical activity', or 'fitness routines'. Additionally, some phrasing is slightly unnatural, such as 'least doing physical activity', which should be 'the least active group'. Expanding your range of descriptive verbs and nouns will enhance your score.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
You demonstrate a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While your meaning is generally clear, there are several grammatical errors that occur throughout the text. For example, 'male age group between 35 to 44 are the least doing physical activity' should be 'the male age group between 35 and 44 was the least active'. There are also issues with subject-verb agreement and preposition usage, such as 'most of the females did regular physical activities than males', which should be 'more females participated in regular physical activity than males'. These errors do not impede communication, but they do limit the score.
