Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response is incomplete, as it ends abruptly with 'On the other hand,' and fails to cover the entire data set. Because the response is under the 150-word minimum, it is penalized. While you identified some main features, such as the 15-24 age group and the peak for females, the lack of a conclusion and the unfinished nature of the report mean that the task is only partially addressed. To improve, ensure you provide a complete overview and cover all categories presented in the chart. You must also ensure your response meets the minimum word count to avoid a penalty.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The essay lacks a logical structure due to its unfinished state. While there is an attempt at an introduction and an overview, the body paragraph is cut off, preventing a coherent flow of information. Cohesive devices are used in a basic way, such as 'Overall' and 'Similarly,' but the lack of completion makes it difficult to assess the overall progression. To improve, ensure that your paragraphs are fully developed and that you use a wider range of linking words to connect your ideas smoothly throughout the entire report.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary used is adequate for the task but lacks variety and precision. You rely on repetitive phrasing, such as 'age group' and 'percentage.' There are also some awkward collocations, such as 'perform physical activity on the daily basis' (should be 'on a daily basis') and 'the men's of 15 to 24 age group' (should be 'men in the 15 to 24 age group'). To reach a higher band, try to use more precise synonyms and ensure your word choices are grammatically accurate in context.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
There are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. Examples include 'Australian male and female' (should be 'males and females'), 'the percentage of Australian female is almost more than the male' (should be 'the percentage of Australian females was higher than that of males'), and 'the men's of 15 to 24 age group do regular physical activity more than the others male's age group.' These errors in pluralization, possessives, and comparative structures are noticeable. You should focus on subject-verb agreement and the correct use of plural nouns when discussing groups of people.
