The bar chart illustrates the proportion of physically active men and women in Australia, of different age groups in the year 2010.

Overall, women were more physically active than men among all age groups except the youngest and oldest groups. The highest percentage of physically active men were recorded in among those ages 15 to 24, while the share of women peaked among the group 45 to 54.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5

You have successfully identified the main features and provided a clear overview of the data. You accurately highlighted the key trends, such as women generally being more active and the specific age groups where participation peaked. However, there are some minor inaccuracies in data reporting; for instance, you mentioned the 45-54 age group for women, but the chart likely refers to 45-64 or specific brackets. Additionally, ensure that all comparisons are precise. Overall, you have covered the requirements well, providing a logical summary of the provided bar chart.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5

The response is logically organized, with a clear introduction, overview, and body paragraphs dedicated to men and women respectively. You use cohesive devices such as 'On the other hand', 'while', and 'although' to link ideas effectively. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate the two main groups. To reach a higher band, ensure that referencing is always clear and that the transition between sentences flows more naturally, as some sentences feel slightly mechanical in their structure.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

You demonstrate a sufficient range of vocabulary to describe trends, using terms like 'proportion', 'peaked', 'figure', and 'involved'. There are some minor errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'the figure was small' (better: 'the figure was lower') and 'physically involved' (better: 'physically active'). While the vocabulary is adequate for the task, incorporating more precise academic collocations would enhance the quality of your writing and help you achieve a higher score.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, which is good. However, there are several grammatical slips, such as 'Among me' (should be 'Among men'), 'reached a low of 39.5 among 35 to 44 age group' (missing 'the'), and 'it reached to 52.5%' (the verb 'reach' does not take 'to'). While these errors do not impede communication, they occur frequently enough to prevent a higher score. Focus on subject-verb agreement and preposition usage to improve accuracy.
