Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response covers all age groups and provides relevant data points for both genders. However, the report lacks a clear overview or summary of the main trends, which is a requirement for Band 6 and above. The information is presented as a list of data points rather than a synthesis of the main features. To improve, you should group the data by trends (e.g., noting that females generally participated more in most age groups) rather than listing every single category sequentially. The introduction is also quite informal and repetitive.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The response is written as a single block of text, which significantly impacts the coherence. There is no paragraphing to separate the introduction from the body or to group related information. While there is a logical progression from the youngest to the oldest age group, the lack of paragraphing and the repetitive use of 'as we can see' and 'then' makes the flow mechanical and monotonous. Using a wider range of cohesive devices and clear paragraph breaks would greatly improve the structure.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is somewhat limited and repetitive. Phrases like 'as we can see' are used multiple times, which is not appropriate for an academic report. The student uses basic descriptors like 'doing more' or 'ahead again' instead of more precise academic vocabulary related to statistics and trends. There are also errors in word formation, such as 'ager' instead of 'age group'. To reach a higher band, you need to use more varied and precise terminology to describe data comparisons.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The response contains frequent grammatical errors, particularly with sentence structure, punctuation, and subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'there are the percentage', 'makes are 45.1%'). The sentences are often run-on or lack proper punctuation, which makes the text difficult to read. While there is an attempt to use complex comparisons, the execution is often flawed. Focusing on basic sentence construction and proofreading for subject-verb agreement would help improve the accuracy of your writing.
