Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response covers the main features of the chart, but the analysis is somewhat mechanical and lacks a clear, cohesive overview. While you have identified some trends, the summary paragraph is confusingly phrased, particularly the statement 'in all ages of women is rose number'. You have included data points for all age groups, which is good, but the comparison between genders is often disjointed. To improve, ensure your overview highlights the most significant trends—such as the fact that women generally participated in more physical activity than men in most age groups—rather than just listing figures. The data reporting needs to be more accurate and clearly linked to the specific age categories provided in the prompt.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The essay is divided into paragraphs, but the logical flow is weak. The second paragraph contains several disjointed sentences that make it difficult to follow the progression of ideas. Cohesive devices are used sparingly and sometimes incorrectly, such as the awkward transition 'the next number are'. The referencing is also unclear; for instance, 'the next was sharply increased' does not clearly refer back to the specific age group or the trend being discussed. To improve, use clearer linking words (e.g., 'In contrast,' 'Furthermore,' 'Conversely') and ensure that each sentence logically follows the previous one to create a smoother narrative.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is quite limited and repetitive, relying heavily on basic terms like 'number' and 'rate'. There are several instances of awkward phrasing and incorrect word choice, such as 'most largest diffrence' (should be 'greatest difference') and 'male number was peaked' (should be 'the percentage for men peaked'). These errors occasionally impede the clarity of your report. To reach a higher band, try to incorporate more precise terminology related to data description, such as 'proportion,' 'percentage,' 'fluctuated,' 'remained stable,' or 'surpassed.' Focus on using adjectives and adverbs to describe the trends more naturally.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The response contains frequent grammatical errors that affect readability. There are issues with subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'in all ages of women is rose number'), incorrect preposition usage, and missing articles. Sentence structures are mostly simple, and attempts at more complex sentences often result in errors, such as 'While smallest rate was notable in 65 and over, Most considerably from 15 to 24 male number was peaked'. Punctuation is also inconsistent, with some sentences lacking proper capitalization or ending with incorrect punctuation. Focusing on basic sentence construction and proofreading for subject-verb agreement will significantly improve your score.
