Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0
The response effectively covers all parts of the task. You have successfully identified the main features, such as the general trend of women being more active and the specific exception in the youngest age group. The data is accurately selected and reported, with clear comparisons made between genders across the six age brackets. The overview is concise and provides a good summary of the trends. To reach a higher band, you could ensure that the 'main features' are highlighted even more distinctly, perhaps by explicitly contrasting the overall trend with the specific data points in the body paragraphs.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.5
The response is logically organized, with a clear introduction, an overview, and two body paragraphs that group the data effectively. Cohesive devices such as 'However', 'while', and 'respectively' are used appropriately to link ideas and compare figures. The progression of information is smooth, moving logically from the general trend to specific age-group comparisons. Paragraphing is used effectively to separate the different stages of the analysis. The flow is natural, and the referencing is clear throughout the text.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.5
You demonstrate a sufficient range of vocabulary to convey information with precision. Phrases like 'remained relatively high', 'the figure for men generally increased', and 'the biggest difference was seen' are used accurately. There is a good attempt at using specific terminology related to data reporting. While the vocabulary is functional and accurate, it is generally standard. To achieve a higher band, you could incorporate more sophisticated collocations or varied synonyms for 'percentage' and 'figure' to enhance the lexical variety.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.5
The response displays a good mix of simple and complex sentence structures. Most sentences are error-free, and the grammar is generally accurate. There are minor slips, such as 'women were more physically active then men' (should be 'than') and 'in almost every age groups' (should be 'age group'). However, these errors are infrequent and do not impede communication. The use of punctuation is generally correct, and the control over complex structures, such as the comparison in the final paragraph, is solid.
