The bar chart below shows the percentage of Australian men and women in different age groups who did regular physical activity in 2010.

Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.

Overall, women were more physically active than men in almost all age groups, with the exception of those aged 15 to 24. Female participation remained relatively stable at around 50%, while the figure for males fluctuated considerably.

Among people aged 15 to 24, 52.8, of men exercised regularly, compared with 47.7% of women. However, in the 25-34 age group, the percentage of active men dropped sharply to 42.2%, whereas the corresponding figure for women rose slightly to 48.9%.

The widest gender gap was seen among those aged 35 to 44, with 39.5% of men engaging in regular physical activity, compared with 52.5% of women. Female participation continued to increase, reaching a peak of 53.3% among 45-54-years-olds, while the figure for men recovered moderately to 43.1%.

In the 55-64 age category, 45.1% of males and 53.0% of females exercised regularly. Among people aged 65 and over, the proportions for both sexes were almost identical, at 46.7% for men and 47.1% for women.
