Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response covers all parts of the task and identifies the main trends. You successfully highlight the contrast between the 15-24 age group and the subsequent age groups. However, the reporting of data is occasionally confusing, such as when you state 'men became more active by the ages of 45-54 the same ages 55 to 64 with the percentages of nearly the same around 43.1 to 45.1%'. This phrasing makes it difficult to distinguish the specific data points for each gender. To improve, ensure that comparisons are clearly linked to the specific figures provided in the chart to avoid ambiguity.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is organised into logical paragraphs, and there is a clear attempt to use cohesive devices like 'In detail', 'Additionally', and 'Subsequently'. However, the flow is sometimes hindered by awkward phrasing and repetitive sentence structures. For example, the transition between the overview and the body paragraphs is a bit abrupt. While you use linking words, they are sometimes used mechanically. Improving the variety of your cohesive devices and ensuring that each sentence flows naturally into the next will help you achieve a higher band score.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'proportion', 'physical activity', and 'genders'. However, there are several instances of word choice errors and awkward collocations, such as 'female dominated men' (should be 'females outnumbered males') and 'passion to do exercises' (which is not the most natural way to describe participation rates). Some phrasing is repetitive, and the vocabulary lacks the precision required for a higher band. Focusing on more academic collocations and precise reporting verbs will strengthen your writing.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
There is a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but the accuracy is inconsistent. You frequently struggle with subject-verb agreement and preposition usage, such as 'except from 15 to 24 ages' and 'men are slightly higher than women'. Additionally, there are issues with tense consistency and sentence fragments. While these errors do not completely impede communication, they occur frequently enough to impact the overall clarity of your report. You should focus on proofreading for basic grammatical errors and ensuring that your complex sentences are constructed correctly.
