Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response attempts to summarise the data but fails to provide a clear or accurate overview. The main features are not effectively highlighted, and the data points mentioned are often confusing or inaccurate. For example, the statement 'the highest percentage... in male' is vague, and the subsequent figures are presented without clear reference to the specific age groups they belong to. The report lacks a logical selection of data, making it difficult for the reader to grasp the trends in physical activity across the different age categories. To improve, you must clearly identify the age groups and link them to the corresponding percentages for both genders.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The essay is organised into paragraphs, but the progression of ideas is disjointed. While there are some attempts at cohesive devices like 'Overall' and 'Whereas', the connections between sentences are often weak or illogical. The referencing is frequently unclear; for instance, phrases like 'the similar ratio of different age group' do not clearly point to the data being compared. The lack of clear signposting makes the information difficult to follow. Improving the use of cohesive devices and ensuring that each sentence clearly relates to the previous one will significantly enhance the flow of your writing.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is quite limited and repetitive. You frequently use the phrase 'different age group' and 'regarding physical activity', which makes the writing sound monotonous. There are also issues with word choice and collocation, such as 'highest percentile' (when referring to a percentage) and 'ratio of different age group'. The range of vocabulary is insufficient to convey the information with precision. To reach a higher band, you should aim to use a wider variety of synonyms and more precise terminology related to data description, such as 'proportion', 'segment', 'category', and 'fluctuated'.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The response contains frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede communication. There are issues with article usage ('by bar graph'), subject-verb agreement, and sentence structure. For example, 'The proportion... was ranged between' is grammatically incorrect; it should be 'ranged between'. Additionally, many sentences are fragmented or lack clarity, such as 'The rate of different age groups related to physical activities in male an female was 46.7% and 47.1%'. You need to focus on basic sentence construction and ensure that your complex structures are used accurately to avoid these persistent errors.
