Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.5

The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 150 words, which significantly impacts the task achievement score. Furthermore, the summary is incomplete; it only covers the first two age groups and fails to report on the remaining four categories shown in the chart. While an attempt is made to identify main features in the overview, the lack of data coverage and the failure to complete the task mean that the requirements are only partially addressed. To improve, you must ensure all data groups are represented and provide a more comprehensive analysis of the trends across all age brackets.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The essay is organized into short paragraphs, which is a positive start. However, the progression of ideas is hindered by the incomplete nature of the report. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'Overall', 'Moreover', and 'To begin with', but they are sometimes used mechanically or with grammatical errors (e.g., 'thr ma;e'). The referencing is occasionally unclear, and the lack of a concluding summary or a fully developed body paragraph makes the overall structure feel disjointed. To improve, ensure that each paragraph flows logically into the next and that you use a wider variety of cohesive devices to link your comparisons effectively.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The range of vocabulary is limited and repetitive, relying heavily on basic phrasing like 'number of' and 'age group'. There are several spelling errors, such as 'thr' instead of 'the' and 'ma;e' instead of 'male', which suggest a lack of proofreading. The vocabulary used is sufficient to convey basic meaning but lacks the precision and variety required for higher bands. To improve, try to incorporate more varied synonyms for 'increase', 'decrease', 'proportion', and 'percentage', and ensure you check your spelling carefully before submitting your work.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The response contains frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. Examples include 'accounted highest number' (missing 'for the'), '15 to 24 of male age group were largest' (awkward phrasing), and 'the maximum number of male age group... were about 52.8%'. There is a lack of complex sentence structures, and the control over basic grammar is inconsistent. Punctuation errors, such as the semicolon in 'ma;e', also detract from the quality. To improve, focus on subject-verb agreement and ensure that your sentences are complete and grammatically sound before moving on to more complex structures.
