Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response covers all parts of the task and provides a clear overview of the data. You successfully identified the main trends, such as the general higher participation of females and the specific age-related patterns. However, the overview is slightly inaccurate; you stated that young males had a higher percentage than females, but the data shows this is only true for the 15-24 age group. Additionally, there are some minor inaccuracies in reporting the figures, such as the claim that the 45-54 age group was the highest for females, which is correct, but the comparison between genders could be more precise. Overall, the main features are well-selected and reported.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is logically organized into paragraphs, with an introduction, an overview, and body paragraphs focusing on male and female data respectively. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'Furthermore', 'However', and 'Meanwhile', which help the flow of information. However, some transitions are slightly mechanical or repetitive, and the referencing is occasionally unclear, such as the phrase 'the age gap of nine years', which does not accurately describe the age categories provided in the chart. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate the data sets, contributing to a coherent overall structure.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is adequate for the task, allowing you to describe trends and comparisons effectively. You use terms like 'percentage', 'decreased', 'increased', and 'regular physical activity' correctly. However, there is some repetition of basic structures and occasional word-choice errors, such as 'doing their work' instead of 'participating in physical activity'. To reach a higher band, try to incorporate more varied synonyms for 'increase' and 'decrease' and use more precise collocations when describing statistical data. The spelling is generally accurate, though there are minor slips like 'then' instead of 'than'.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

You demonstrate a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors, such as 'female had relatively higher percentage' (missing articles) and '52..5%' (typo). Subject-verb agreement is sometimes inconsistent, and the use of articles is often missing before nouns. While these errors do not significantly impede communication, they occur frequently enough to prevent a higher score. Focusing on proofreading for articles and pluralization would significantly improve the accuracy of your writing.
