Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
You have successfully identified the main features of the chart and provided a clear overview. You covered all age groups and made relevant comparisons between men and women. However, the analysis could be more precise. For instance, when you mention that women achieved 13% more in the 35-44 age group, it is helpful to explicitly state the figures to support this claim. Additionally, ensure that all comparisons are accurate; you mentioned that women recorded more activity in five groups, but the data shows that in the 15-24 group, men were higher, and in the 65+ group, they were nearly equal. Your summary is generally accurate, but adding more specific data points would strengthen the response.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0
The response is logically organized with a clear introduction, overview, and body paragraphs. You use cohesive devices such as 'whereas', 'however', 'similarly', and 'furthermore' to connect ideas effectively. The progression of information is easy to follow, moving from the general trend to specific age group comparisons. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate different sets of data. To reach a higher band, ensure that referencing is always precise; for example, ensure that the transition between the 45-54 and 55-64 age groups is explicitly linked to the data provided in the chart.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'recorded', 'accounted for', and 'relatively similar'. The language is generally natural and appropriate for a report. However, there is some repetition of phrases like 'physical activity' and 'age group'. To improve, try to use synonyms or vary your sentence structure to avoid repeating the same nouns. While your word choice is accurate and does not impede communication, incorporating more sophisticated collocations or topic-specific vocabulary would enhance the lexical range and precision of your writing.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.5
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, which is appropriate for this task. Most of your sentences are clear and error-free, though there are minor issues with article usage and prepositional phrasing (e.g., 'in the age group of 25 to 34 women recorded...'). These errors are infrequent and do not cause any difficulty for the reader. To improve, focus on ensuring consistent subject-verb agreement and refining the use of articles when referring to specific data sets. Overall, your control of grammar is solid and supports clear communication.
