The bar chart below shows the percentage of Australian men and women in different age groups who did regular physical activity in 2010.

Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.

Student answer (Band 6.5)

This graph illustrates the individuals of Australia engaged in physical exercise in 2010, distributed by gender and different age groups.

Overall, women are physically more active than their counterparts across all ages with only the youngest group of men slightly more physically active in the same year.

Among men, 15 to 24 years old were the most involved in physical activity with 52.8% while age group of 35 to 44 years were least interested in doing exercise with 39.5% of participation. This group has the largest difference of 13% with their female counterparts. 46.7% of the oldest individuals did regular exercise which was almost equal to the females of the same age.

The females were more physically enthusiastic with highest participation of 53.3% by age group 45 to 54 years closely followed by 55 to 64 years old and 35 to 44 age-group with 53% and 52.5% respectively. The least physically active group among women was 65 and older but it still led the males by 0.3%.
