The bar chart below shows the percentage of Australian men and women in different age groups who did regular physical activity in 2010.

Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.

Student answer (Band 7.0)

The bar chart illustrates the percentage of Australian men and women in different age groups who did regular physical activity in 2010.

Overall, women aged 25-64 were more active than men in the same age bracket. In contrast, men aged 15-24 were doing more physical activities than women in the same age group. In addition, men and women aging 65 and over almost have the same figures.

The proportions of women aged 35-64 doing physical exercises were between 52.5% and 53.3%, these were higher than the figures for men in the same age bracket which were only from 39.5% to 45.1%. Also, the percentage of women aged 25-34 was at 48.9% compared to 42.2% of men in the same age group.

It can also be noted that the figure for women aged 65 and over was slightly higher at 47.1% than the figure for men at 46.7%. By contrast, men aging 15-24 were more active than women in the same age bracket, with men at 52.8% while women were only at 47.7%.
