Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
The response successfully identifies the main features and provides a clear overview. You have selected relevant data points to support your descriptions, such as the peak for women in the 45-54 age group and the low point for men in the 35-44 group. However, the overview paragraph is slightly inaccurate; you state that 'female are high doing physical activity' and 'female are increased over the age group', which is not entirely supported by the data, as the trend for women fluctuates rather than consistently increasing. To reach a higher band, ensure your summary accurately reflects the overall trends observed in the chart.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0
The essay is logically organized with a clear introduction, overview, and two body paragraphs focusing on men and women respectively. The use of cohesive devices such as 'In contrast', 'To begin with', and 'After that' helps guide the reader through the data. However, the referencing is occasionally mechanical, and the transition between the overview and the body paragraphs could be smoother. The paragraphing is appropriate, and the progression of ideas is generally clear, making the information easy to follow throughout the response.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'proportion', 'regular physical activity', and 'reached a peak'. However, there are noticeable errors in word choice and form, such as 'it can be show' (should be 'shown') and 'female are high doing' (should be 'women are more active'). These errors do not impede communication, but they limit the precision of your writing. To improve, focus on using more varied reporting verbs and ensuring correct word forms when describing statistical trends.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The response uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are several grammatical errors, particularly with subject-verb agreement and article usage, such as 'female are high' instead of 'women have higher levels' and 'it can be show' instead of 'it can be shown'. Additionally, the phrase 'men are high but it is decreased' is grammatically awkward. While these errors do not prevent the reader from understanding the data, they occur frequently enough to prevent a higher score. Focusing on sentence construction and proofreading for basic errors would be beneficial.
