Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response covers the main features of the chart, such as the age groups and gender comparisons. However, the analysis is somewhat inconsistent. For instance, the statement that the 15-24 age group was the 'highest level in men' is contradicted by the later claim that the 45-54 and 55-64 groups were the highest. The overview is also slightly confusing due to these inaccuracies. While you have selected relevant data points, the lack of clarity in the summary and the contradictory statements prevent a higher score. To improve, ensure that your overview accurately reflects the data trends and that your supporting details are logically consistent with your summary.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is organized into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is often mechanical or inaccurate. Phrases like 'At the beginning of 2010' are used inappropriately, as the chart shows data for a single year rather than a timeline. Additionally, some sentences are disjointed, such as 'In 25 to 34 age group was standing almost 42.2% in men', which lacks a clear subject. To improve, focus on using transition words more naturally and ensure that each sentence has a clear subject and verb to maintain logical flow.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The range of vocabulary is adequate for the task but lacks precision. You rely on repetitive phrasing such as 'highest level' and 'making up'. There are also some awkward collocations and word choices, such as 'stooded constant percentage' (should be 'remained constant') and 'had stood up lowest level'. While the meaning is generally clear, the lack of sophisticated vocabulary and the presence of word-choice errors limit the score. Try to vary your verbs and use more precise terminology for describing statistical data, such as 'peaked at', 'remained stable', or 'accounted for'.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The response contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. Common issues include incorrect verb tenses and forms (e.g., 'had stooded', 'was representing'), missing articles, and awkward sentence construction (e.g., 'the 15-24 age group was standing highest level in men'). While the meaning is usually understandable, the frequency of these errors is significant. To improve, focus on subject-verb agreement and the correct use of passive voice when describing data, as this will help you produce more accurate and professional-sounding sentences.
