Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The student attempts to address the task by reporting several key data points and trends from the bar chart, such as the highest activity rate among 15-to-24-year-old males and the general patterns across different age groups. However, the response suffers from several inaccurate data interpretations and awkward phrasing regarding the figures. For instance, the statement that women's percentages 'remain almost similar in between 52-53.3 in the age groups 35 to 64 respectively' misreads the data for the 55-64 age group where female activity drops to 53%, but more importantly mischaracterizes the male trend, which actually rises across those brackets. While the main features are partially covered, the lack of precision and some confusing comparisons limit the task response to a Band 5.0 level.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The response is organized into four paragraphs, including an introduction and a brief conclusion, which provides a basic overall structure. However, the logical progression within the body paragraphs is frequently disrupted by awkward transitions and confusing sentence connections. Phrases like 'To begin with' and 'Moreover, percentage in male were keep diclines' are grammatically flawed and fail to guide the reader smoothly through the data comparisons. Furthermore, referencing is sometimes unclear, making it difficult to follow which age groups or genders are being contrasted. Overall cohesion is mechanical and inadequate in places, aligning with Band 5.0 descriptors.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary used is quite basic and repetitive, with frequent word choice and spelling errors that strain the reader's understanding. Examples include 'diclines' instead of declines, 'rised' instead of rose, 'increced' instead of increased, and 'perticular' instead of particular. The student attempts some descriptive vocabulary related to data trends, but these attempts are marred by inaccurate forms and lack of flexibility. There is little evidence of less common lexical items used with precision or appropriate collocation, which places this performance firmly at Band 5.0.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The essay displays a very limited range of grammatical structures, and attempts at complex sentences are almost uniformly faulty. There are persistent, highly noticeable errors in tense, subject-verb agreement, and prepositions, such as 'men were more active than female', 'percentage in male were keep diclines', and 'male and female were almost same active'. Punctuation is also problematic, including misused semicolons and run-on structures. Because errors are frequent and often cause difficulty for the reader in parsing the intended meaning, the grammatical performance corresponds to a Band 4.5, rounded to 5.0 based on standard scoring practices.
