Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The candidate has attempted to summarise the main features of the chart, reporting specific data points such as 52.8% for males aged 15 to 24 and 53.3% for females aged 45 to 54. However, the overview provided in the second paragraph is somewhat unclear and contains sweeping generalisations, such as 'the female age group were more active to do exercise daily', which misinterprets the data as daily exercise rather than regular physical activity. Furthermore, there are minor inaccuracies in reporting certain age groups (e.g., misreading the 65 and over female figure as 47.15 instead of 47.1). While the key trends and comparisons are generally covered, the task response lacks the precision and fully developed overview expected at higher bands.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The response is structured into four paragraphs, including an introduction, overview, and body paragraphs. Progression is attempted through temporal and categorical sequencing, such as 'In 2010', 'In 25-34 age group', and 'Additionally'. However, referencing and cohesion are frequently mechanical or faulty, as seen in awkward transitions like 'Followed by people age 35-44' and 'At last age bracket'. Paragraphing is present, but internal cohesion lacks smooth fluidity. Cohesive devices are sometimes used inaccurately, pulling down the overall effectiveness of the organisation.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The student uses an adequate range of vocabulary suitable for the task, attempting some less common lexical items such as 'proportion', 'decline trajectory', and 'minimal increase'. However, there are frequent word choice and collocation errors, such as 'exercise activity', 'active to do exercise', 'male gender' instead of 'males', and 'rose' used as a noun where 'rise' is required. Spelling errors also occur, such as 'Converesly' and 'approximetely'. These inaccuracies show a restricted control of lexical features, keeping the score at a modest level.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The writer attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, incorporating relative clauses and comparative structures. However, grammatical accuracy is weak throughout the text. There are numerous errors in subject-verb agreement and preposition use, such as 'men largest percentage showed on the young adults age group', 'male makesup a minimal increase', and 'age about 55-64 demonstrated a tiny rose on men gropu'. Punctuation is generally acceptable, but frequent non-systematic structural errors cause some difficulty for the reader and prevent the score from reaching a higher band.
