The bar chart below shows the percentage of Australian men and women in different age groups who did regular physical activity in 2010.
Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.
Student answer (Band 6.0)
The visual illustrates the percentage of physical activity followed by Australian men and women of different age groups in 2010.
Overall, the percentage of physical activity performed by Australian men was intially high and then experienced a significant decline during the age of 35 to 44 before gradually increasing at the age of 65 and over. Similarly, the involvement of females in the physical activity was slightly lower than that of males and significantly grew with the age. Conversely, almost equal percentage of physical activity is followed by both the males and females of the age 65 and over.
The males of age group 15 to 24 accounted for 52.8% involved in physical activity which dropped to 42.2% before reaching the lowest percentage of 39.5 during the age of 35 to 44. However, 43.1% men of age 45 and above performed physical activity which gradually increases with the age. Finally, 46.7% men of age 65 and above are inclined to stay physically active.
On the other hand, 47.7% women of the age group of 15 to 24 are physcially active, whereas the performance increases gradually with the age and reaches the peak of 53.3% during the age of 45 to 54. In contrast, the physical activity among women started declining with age
