The bar chart below shows the percentage of Australian men and women in different age groups who did regular physical activity in 2010.
Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.
Student answer (Band 5.0)
The bar chart illustrates the proportion of Australian residents engaging in physical activity in 2010.
Overall, it is evident that females are more promising towards exercising in all age groups except 15 to 24 in this group men witnessed a higher figure. 35 to 44 is the least figure for men whereas 65 and over is least for women.
In the provided data, in every age group women can be seen around 50 percent. As youngsters more than 50 percent men spent 52.8 hours which infact is the highest regardless of gender and age while girls spent 47.7 hours. However, young adult females made a larger group with 48.9 hours and mens 42.2.
Furthermore, in older adults again women exercised for 52.5 hours and for men they only spent 39.5 hours which is the least for them in all age group. Similarly, age groups 45 to 54, 55 to 64 and 65 and over depicted the same trend with 43.1, 45.1 and 46.7 for men while 53.3, 53 and 47.1 for females.
