Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.5
The student attempts to summarise the main features of the bar chart, noting trends and specific age groups. However, there are significant factual errors in reporting the data (for example, misstating 52% or mixing up male and female trends). Furthermore, the response is incomplete, breaking off mid-sentence at the end. Because the word count is only 121 words, the task is severely under-length, failing to meet the minimum requirement of 150 words. This significantly impacts task completion and development.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The essay is poorly organised and cut short abruptly. Although there are basic attempts at paragraphing and transition phrases such as 'Overall' and 'Looking at the details', the logical progression breaks down. Cohesive devices are used awkwardly ('Moving on the'), and referencing becomes confusing when discussing male and female figures interchangeably. The lack of a completed conclusion or body paragraph severely restricts overall cohesion.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The student attempts some less common vocabulary such as 'crystal clear', 'upward trend', and 'in stark contrast'. However, there are several spelling and word-choice errors, including 'conscutive' (consecutive), 'cleat' (clear), and 'agr group' (age group). Some expressions are unnatural or confused, such as referring to physical activity as the 'most popular activity choice i both genders'. The vocabulary is adequate for basic communication but contains noticeable errors.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The student demonstrates a mix of simple and attempted complex structures, such as subordinate clauses ('while women had experienced...'). However, grammatical accuracy is weak due to frequent errors, including tense misuse ('had experienced'), missing articles, and typos ('different age group'). The sentence structure disintegrates completely at the end of the text where the response trails off unfinished. These errors occasionally cause difficulty for the reader.
