The bar chart below shows the percentage of Australian men and women in different age groups who did regular physical activity in 2010.

Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.

Student answer (Band 6.0)

The bar chart illustrates the proportion of people from different age groups in Australia who did daily physical activity in 2010. The figures are measured in percentages.

From an overall perspective, the figures for female in most age groups were higher than the percentages of the males. However, men from 15 to 24 age group did more exercise than the women. The percentage of "65 and over" age group for both genders was nearly the same.

Regarding people from first three age groups, the figure for men under 15 to 24 age stood at around 52.8%, as compared to the proportion of the women at approximately 47.7%. Conversely, the proportions of males from 25 to 34 and from 35 to 44 age groups made up to 42.2% and 39.5%, whereas these figures for females were stood at 48.9% and more than half (52.5%) overall.

Furthermore, the share of Australian men under "45 to 54" and "55 to 64" age groups recorded at around 43.1% and 45.1%, as compared to the shares for females at approximately 53.3% and 53%, respectively. However, the percentage for "65 and over" age group was nearly the same at around 46.7% and 47.1%.
