The bar chart below shows the percentage of Australian men and women in different age groups who did regular physical activity in 2010.
Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.
Student answer (Band 6.0)
The chart demonstrates the number of Australian men and women in different parts of life doing physical activity regularly in the year 2010.
Overall, the number of Australian men doing physical activity at an early stage of their life is much more than that of women. However, there is a significant drop as they grow older. Moreover, Australian women starts off slow and gain momentum and at the end, their physical activity is almost similar to men.
The physical activity of men at the age of 15 to 24 is 52.8% which decreases over the age and is at its lowest with the percentage of 39.5% at the age of 35 up until 40. However, the increase happened again and within 20 years, the percentage increased until 46.7% when the age goes from 45 to 65 and over.
On the other hand, women of the age 15 to 24 experiences a slightly slow start at 47.7%. It gradually rose to being at the top with the percentage of 53.3% at the age of 45 to 54, which is an increase of 6% in 30 years. In in end, It experiences a drop of 5.9% and rests alongside men with the percentage of 47.1% at the age of 65 and over.
