Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

The student attempts to address the task by reporting on the given bar chart, but the response suffers from significant inaccuracies regarding the data. For instance, the claim that the proportion of women "significantly increased... between all the remaining age groups" is factually incorrect according to the chart, where female participation actually dips at the oldest age group (47.1% down from 53%). Furthermore, the overview is poorly formed and lacks a clear, accurate summary of the main trends. The student misses several key comparisons between genders across different age brackets. Therefore, the response aligns best with Band 5, as it addresses the task only partially and contains notable misconceptions about the visual data.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

The essay is divided into paragraphs, but the organization and progression are disjointed. The opening overview sentence is vague and grammatically flawed. The transition phrases used, such as "Started with the age group" and "on the other hand," are awkward and fail to logically link the ideas. Paragraphing is attempted, but the body paragraphs lack clear internal progression, jumping between different age groups without a cohesive narrative. Pronoun referencing is also problematic in places, such as "where women majority touches the peak." These issues place the response firmly in Band 5 for Coherence and Cohesion.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

The vocabulary used is quite basic and repetitive, with noticeable errors in word choice and morphology. Examples include "with differents ages", "regular routine", "bwteen", and "record hight". The student attempts some less common vocabulary, such as "proportion", "gradual increase", and "peak", but these are often accompanied by collocation errors or awkward phrasing (e.g., "women majority touches the peak"). Lexical range is limited, and spelling/word-formation errors require the reader to occasionally pause, which is characteristic of Band 5.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The response features a very limited range of grammatical structures, and attempts at complex sentences frequently result in errors. Examples of grammatical inaccuracies include "the proportion of Australian women were significantly increased" (subject-verb agreement and passive/active confusion), "number of male who done regular physical activity" (missing plural/article and tense error), and "women ages from 35 to 65" (awkward phrasing). Frequent errors in basic grammar, verb forms, and preposition usage cause some difficulty for the reader throughout the text, corresponding to a Band 5 score.
