Student answer (Band 5.0)
The chart gives the information of groups of men and women that did physical activity in 2010. the information is of different ages of both genders giving us a hint of whose physical activity increases over time and which gender slowly reduces the physical activity that they are doing. in the Teenages from 15 to 24, men tend to have more physical activity then women being at 52.8 percent while women are the 47.7 percent. Maybe it's because men at this age are trying hard to become resourceful to live the rest of their life with ease while women in these ages just have to maintain themselves. At ages 25 to 34 men's physical activity is the low at 42.2 while women are at 48.9 percent. This is because most women at these ages have a home to take care of. Which not just includes a homes it includes the kids as well. at ages 35 to 44 women are closer to their top physical activity while men at at their lowest. Women are at 52.5 while men are at 39.5. From age 55 to 64 men's activity is still low at 43.1 while women are at 53.3 which is their highest among the percentages shown on the chart. And from age 65 and over men and women have a very little diffference in their physical activity with men being at 46.7 and women being at 47.1. Both genders have high physical activity at ages 15 to 24 while at 35 to 44 men have less physical activity then women.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0
The response covers the main features of the chart, reporting specific data points for both men and women across the age groups. However, there are significant issues regarding style and task completion. The writer includes personal speculation and sociological theories to explain the data (e.g., 'Maybe it's because men at this age are trying hard to become resourceful...'), which is entirely inappropriate for an Academic Task 1 report that requires an objective summary without personal opinion. While key comparisons are made, the inclusion of irrelevant, speculative commentary and the lack of a clear, consolidated overview paragraph prevent the response from achieving a higher band.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
The essay lacks proper paragraphing, written almost entirely as one continuous block of text, which severely impacts its visual structure and readability. Cohesive devices are weak and repetitive. The progression of ideas is hindered by a lack of clear linking words, and the bouncing back and forth between unsupported personal commentary and raw data disrupts the logical flow. Referencing is sometimes unclear, making it difficult to follow the relationships between the age groups and the data points being discussed.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
The vocabulary used is generally basic and repetitive, relying heavily on phrases like 'physical activity', 'men and women', and simple percentages. There are noticeable lexical errors and awkward collocations, such as 'In the Teenages from 15 to 24' and 'men's physical activity is the low'. While the student attempts to use some task-specific language, the lack of variety and the presence of word-formation errors limit the lexical score to a band 5.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
The response demonstrates a mix of simple and attempted complex sentences, but grammatical accuracy is quite low. There are frequent punctuation and capitalization errors, such as starting sentences with lowercase letters ('in the Teenages...', 'at ages 35...'). Articles are frequently misused or omitted (e.g., 'gives the information of groups', 'at the 47.7 percent'), and run-on sentences with incorrect relative clauses ('Which not just includes a homes it includes the kids as well') disrupt clarity and comprehension.
