Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

The response covers the main features of the chart, presenting a general overview and reporting data for various age groups. However, the information is only partially addressed in a structured manner, and some data points are described with confusion, such as misinterpreting the units or referring to regular physical activity as daily physical activity. The overview is somewhat repetitive and vague, stating that females generally did more physical activities than men. While key comparisons between genders are attempted across the age groups, the presentation lacks precision and clarity in places, keeping the response at this level. To improve, ensure all reported figures are accurate according to the visual data and provide a clearer, more precise summary without redundancies.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

There is some basic organization with an introductory statement, body details, and a concluding point, but overall progression is lacking. The student attempts to use transition signals such as 'First of all', 'Moreover', and 'On the other hand', but these cohesive devices are sometimes misused or mechanical. Paragraphing is attempted, though the body of the text is dense and lacks a smooth flow of ideas. Referencing and pronoun use are occasionally unclear, making it difficult for the reader to follow the exact comparisons between male and female data. To achieve a higher band, the writer needs to ensure a logical sequence of ideas with clearer transitions and a more cohesive overall structure.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

The vocabulary used is limited and minimally adequate for the task, with frequent issues in word choice, collocation, and word forms. Examples such as 'given data that the numbers of australian men', 'recorded highest in male', and 'percenatage fall rapidly' demonstrate awkward phrasing and lexical inaccuracy. While the student attempts some task-specific terms like 'proportion', 'age group', and 'percentage', the imprecise use of words restricts the clarity of the response. Spelling and word choice errors are noticeable throughout the text, though they do not completely impede communication. To improve, the writer should focus on expanding their vocabulary range and learning correct collocations for describing statistical data.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The response shows a very limited range of grammatical structures. While there are some simple sentences, attempts at more complex structures are frequently faulty, leading to run-on sentences and grammatical errors. There are frequent mistakes in subject-verb agreement, article use, and prepositional phrases within grammatical patterns, such as in 'the age group between 25 to 34 where male was recorded low' and 'female remian stable but female slighty increased'. Punctuation is also weak, with missing commas and disjointed clauses that can cause difficulty for the reader. To progress, the student must work on sentence boundaries, accurate verb forms, and minimizing basic grammatical errors.
