Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 3.5
The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 150 words, stopping abruptly at 101 words in an unfinished state. Furthermore, the content suffers from significant data confusion and misinterpretation. For instance, the writer attributes the data for the 15 to 24 age group of women (47.7%) to 52.8%, and confuses male and female figures and age brackets entirely in the overview and body paragraphs (claiming men aged 45 to 54 do 53.3%, which is actually the female figure for that group, while male data for that group is 43.1%). Consequently, the response addresses the task only minimally and fails to present a clear, accurate summary of the main features or comparisons.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5
The text attempts a basic structure with an introduction and early transitional markers such as 'Overall' and 'Firstly'. However, the overall progression is severely disrupted by the premature truncation of the response, leaving the third paragraph unfinished ('approma'). Paragraphing is poorly handled with incomplete thoughts. Reference words and cohesive devices are inadequate or mechanical, and the logical organization breaks down quickly as the data is incorrectly linked and presented, making the text difficult to follow cohesively.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
The vocabulary used is very basic, repetitive, and limited, featuring frequent word-choice and collocation errors such as 'Australian people on the basis of the gender in different ages who are engage', 'ladies', and 'the men group who do the most physical at the age'. Word forms are frequently inaccurate (e.g., 'engage' instead of 'engaged', 'percentage' used incorrectly in place of the actual figures like '52.8 percentage'). These noticeable lexical inadequacies and errors restrict the response to a lower band level.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5
The grammatical range is extremely limited, relying heavily on simple structures and faulty attempts at complex clauses. There are frequent errors in verb forms, tense usage, prepositions, and article omission (e.g., '15 to 24 ages of women doing 52.8 percentage', 'at the age of 45 to 54. They do 53.3 percentage', '45 to 54 age group of the men doing'). Punctuation is also problematic, marked by sentence fragments and an incomplete ending. These frequent errors cause strain and difficulty for the reader.
