Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

The response addresses the main features of the chart only partially. While the overview attempts to highlight general trends, it is somewhat confused and inaccurate, claiming that women recorded the highest level of physical activity overall while simultaneously stating that the younger male group was dominant. In the body paragraphs, some data points are misreported or inaccurately transcribed from the visual data, such as the male figure for the 35 to 44 age group written as 39.15% instead of 39.5%. There is an attempt to compare men and women across different age brackets, but the selection of data is underdeveloped and lacks a fully clear comparative overview throughout the response.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

The essay displays some basic organization with an introduction, body paragraphs, and an overall statement, but there is no clear overall progression. Cohesive devices are used awkwardly or inaccurately, such as the abrupt transition 'respectively 47.7% and 48.9%' and repetitive linking phrases like 'Furthermore' and 'In contrast'. Paragraphing is attempted, but the internal logical flow within paragraphs is mechanical and sometimes difficult to follow. Referencing is also occasionally unclear, making it hard to track whether certain percentages belong to male or female categories without constantly re-reading the numbers.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

The vocabulary used is limited but minimally adequate to describe the chart data, featuring terms like 'proportion', 'age groups', and 'regular physical activity'. However, there are noticeable lexical errors, such as spelling mistakes ('acitvity', 'comapred') and awkward word choices ('relative low participation rate', 'relatively same figure'). Less common vocabulary is attempted with limited success, and these inaccuracies occasionally cause some difficulty or hesitation for the reader in grasping the exact quantitative comparisons.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The response demonstrates a limited range of sentence structures, and attempts at more complex sentences are frequently faulty. There are frequent grammatical errors in verb forms, prepositions, and comparative structures, such as 'men physical acitvity proportion stood at', 'whose percentage increase in older age groups', and 'under below 50%'. Punctuation errors are also present, including missing hyphens in compound age descriptors and comma splices. These recurring errors cause noticeable difficulty for the reader and detract from the overall clarity of the writing.
