Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5
The response presents some main features of the chart, such as the highest and lowest percentages across different age groups, but the information is only partially covered and lacks a clear overall overview. While the writer attempts to make comparisons between men and women across the categories, several figures are either missing or inaccurately reported. For example, stating that women 'increase their chores around 48.9' confuses the activity type and misrepresents the data progression. Furthermore, the response is presented as a single dense paragraph rather than structured overview and body paragraphs, which limits the clarity and completeness of the task completion.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
The text demonstrates some basic organization by moving sequentially through the age groups, but there is no clear overall progression or paragraph structure. The response lacks proper paragraphing, as everything is lumped into one continuous block of text. Cohesive devices are either missing or used very inaccurately and mechanically, such as 'firstly youth group come', 'third age indivival group', and 'At last but not the least group'. Referencing between sentences is also weak, making it difficult for the reader to follow the logical flow of comparisons smoothly.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
The vocabulary used is limited and barely adequate for the task. There are numerous spelling errors throughout the text, such as 'austrailan', 'physicial', 'activies', 'domstrate', 'indivival', 'countious', 'propoation', 'deline', and 'retaire'. Word choice and collocations are often inappropriate, such as referring to physical activities as 'fitness activies' or using 'chores' instead of rates or percentages. These lexical inaccuracies and persistent spelling errors occasionally cause strain and difficulty for the reader, keeping the vocabulary score at this level.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5
The response displays a very limited range of grammatical structures, relying mostly on simple or faulty clauses linked together with comma splices or missing punctuation. There are frequent errors in verb forms, subject-verb agreement, and prepositions, such as 'the bar chart illustrate', 'age group start from', and 'they reach same level'. Capitalization and punctuation are largely neglected throughout the text, with sentences running into one another without proper periods or commas. These frequent grammatical errors cause significant difficulty for the reader and reflect a restricted control over sentence mechanics.
