Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.0
The response addresses the task only minimally and fails to provide an accurate overview of the chart. The data is largely misreported and confused; for instance, the figures cited for various age groups and genders do not align correctly with the visual data. The overview attempts to highlight trends, but it is inaccurate and difficult to follow, stating incorrect high points and incorrectly attributing statistics between the male and female categories. While the writer attempts to select and report some features, the frequent inaccuracies in reading the data mean the response falls short of providing a clear or complete summary.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
There is some basic organization with separate paragraphs for the introduction, overall trend, and body details, but there is no clear overall progression. Cohesive devices are minimal, repetitive, or inaccurate, such as mechanical linking words like 'however' and 'meanwhile'. Referencing is also occasionally unclear, making it hard to follow which group is being discussed. Paragraphing is attempted, but the internal logical flow of information within paragraphs is disrupted by confusing sentence structures and abrupt transitions between data points.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
The vocabulary used is limited and repetitive, with frequent spelling and word-choice errors that impede communication. Examples include 'comapres', 'activites', 'categeory', 'excercsie', 'foloowed', and 'perecntsge'. Word forms are often misused, such as 'perfromed' and 'increaesd'. The range of vocabulary is barely adequate to describe the chart, and the numerous lexical errors strain the reader's understanding and prevent the response from achieving a higher band.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
The response displays a very limited range of structures, with frequent grammatical errors that often cause difficulty for the reader. There are persistent errors in article usage, subject-verb agreement, prepositions, and sentence boundary punctuation, such as missing spaces after commas and periods. Attempts at complex sentences are frequently faulty, leading to tangled clauses like 'the largest number women who did excercise daily was 52.8% who belonged to age group of 15 to 24'. These structural issues significantly undermine the clarity of the writing.
