Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0
You identify the chart’s subject and make a relevant attempt at an overview, noting that women generally recorded higher activity and that men led among 15–24-year-olds. However, the overview is unclear (“the highest percentage of exercise did in the mother age period”), and some key details are inaccurate: women aged 35–44 recorded 52.5%, not 58.9%, while men aged 65 and over recorded 46.7%, not 56.7%. The claim that both sexes were below 50% in the oldest group is therefore correct, but the figures need careful checking. You also mention the male low of 39.5%, but do not clearly summarise the overall pattern across the age groups. Select the main comparisons and report them accurately and clearly.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
The response has an introduction, an overview, and two body paragraphs, so there is some organisation and the reader can identify the broad topic. However, progression between points is not consistently clear. The overview combines several ideas in confusing wording, and the body paragraphs move between age groups without a clear comparison pattern. Connectors such as “Furthermore,” “Whereas,” and “On the other hand” are repeated or used where the relationship between ideas is unclear; for example, “Whereas” introduces a fragment rather than a complete contrast. Group the data systematically—for instance, compare the male and female figures within each age range, or describe the trends across age groups—and use linking words only when they accurately show the relationship.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some task-relevant vocabulary, including “proportion,” “percentage,” “age groups,” and “physical activity,” which helps identify the chart’s subject. However, the range is limited and many expressions are inaccurate or unnatural, sometimes making the intended meaning difficult to follow. Examples include “age fields,” “mother age period,” “last living age life,” and “percentage of exercise did.” There are also spelling errors such as “consistant” and “phyical,” and “workout” is less suitable than a neutral term such as “physical activity” in this report. Aim for precise chart language and natural collocations, such as “the proportion who exercised regularly” and “the highest figure was recorded among women aged 45–54.”
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt a few complex sentence forms, including contrasts introduced by “Whereas,” but these are often incomplete or inaccurately constructed. For example, “Whereas, slighted down percentage for women at 47.7%” has no complete main clause, and “women was slightly increased” has incorrect subject–verb agreement and an unclear verb pattern. Articles, plurals, and sentence boundaries are also inconsistent, as in “Australian male and female” and “the both male and female do exercises.” Most sentences contain errors, which can make comparisons difficult to understand. Practise writing complete subject–verb sentences, using past-tense reporting consistently, and checking agreement and punctuation. A clear pattern such as “Women’s rate was 47.7%, compared with 52.8% for men” would improve accuracy.
