Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

You identify the chart’s subject and include several relevant figures, including the male peak of 52.8% among 15–24-year-olds and the female peak of 53.3% among 45–54-year-olds. However, the overview is incomplete and partly inaccurate: men aged 35–44 had the lowest male figure, but this was not the lowest figure overall, since men in that group were below the female figures. The final sentence also gives 52% for women aged 55–64, whereas the chart shows 53%. Some comparisons are missing, especially the broad pattern that men were more active only in the youngest group, while women led in the other five. Select and summarise these main features more accurately and clearly.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

The response has a recognisable structure, with an introduction, an overview and separate paragraphs for men and women. This gives the reader some organisation, and words such as “Overall,” “Furthermore” and “In contrast” signal relationships between points. However, progression within the paragraphs is uneven: the male figures are mostly listed in age order, while the female paragraph ends abruptly and does not clearly complete the comparison. Some linking phrases are inaccurate or confusing, such as “In contrast, the women of age 15 to 54 was considerably increased over the aged.” The reference to “men and women of 64 and above” also interrupts the male-only sequence. Group related comparisons and use clearer links to guide the reader through the data.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use relevant chart vocabulary, including “percentage,” “age group,” “recorded” and “followed by,” so the topic is generally understandable. However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations are unnatural, such as “percentage spent on physical activity,” “contributed at” and “was accounted at.” These expressions make it harder to distinguish a proportion of people from time spent exercising. There are also spelling and form errors, including “actitvity” and “acounted,” and “inclined” is not a suitable description of a rise in the figures. Use precise reporting language consistently, for example, “the proportion who exercised” and “rose to,” and check spelling before submitting.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt some longer structures, including “while among age 35-44…” and “which was the highest…,” but control is inconsistent. Frequent errors in agreement and sentence construction make several statements difficult to follow: “female of 45-54 was constituted” and “the women … was considerably increased” do not form grammatical clauses. Articles and prepositions are also often missing or misplaced, as in “In the age 15-24” and “accounted at 39.5%.” The final fragment, “55-54 it acounted 52%,” lacks a clear subject and contains an unclear age range. Build accurate simple sentences first, then add complex clauses only when their grammar is secure.
