Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You identify several relevant comparisons, including the male high point in the youngest group, the female peak of 53.3% among 45–54-year-olds, and the similar female figures for ages 35–44 and 55–64. However, the overview is not fully accurate: women did not lead in every age group, since men were higher among 15–24-year-olds. The claim that men “persistently occupied the lowest tier” is also too broad, as their rates rise after the 35–44 group. Some figures are reported correctly, but the overview and selection of trends remain limited or unclear. State the key contrast—that men lead only in the youngest group, while women lead in all others—and describe the male trend more precisely.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a recognisable structure, moving from an introduction and overview to details, and it uses linking expressions such as “By contrast,” “Moreover,” and “Lastly.” These help signal comparisons, but the progression is not consistently clear. The final paragraph returns to age groups already discussed, while the order of comparisons shifts between age bands and gender patterns. Some links are also awkward or do not clearly show the relationship between the figures, as in “In the similar vein.” Organise the body in a consistent sequence—either age group by age group or by overall male and female trends—and use simpler, more precise transitions. This would make the comparisons easier to follow.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You attempt a range of formal and comparative vocabulary, including “dominated,” “peak,” “marked,” and “by contrast.” However, several choices are inaccurate or unnatural for describing a chart, such as “comprehensively elucidated,” “calibrated into percentage,” and “lowest tier.” Spelling errors, including “comparision,” “abundently,” and “meteculously,” are noticeable and reduce clarity. Some phrases also obscure the intended meaning, for example “more than half physical activity performance.” Use straightforward, precise chart language and check spelling carefully. Expressions such as “the proportion who exercised regularly” and “reached a peak of” would communicate the data more naturally.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and more complex sentences, including comparisons introduced by “Whereas” and “By contrast,” but control is inconsistent. Errors in agreement and verb forms appear in phrases such as “female unequivocally dominated … by recorded” and “the figures … was almost same.” Several sentences are incomplete or awkwardly joined, including “Whereas man persistently occupied the lowest tier in this list,” which is left as a fragment. Articles, plurals, and punctuation also need attention: for example, “the all elder citizens” and missing spaces after commas. These errors sometimes make relationships between ideas difficult to interpret. Practise complete sentence structures and check subject–verb agreement and punctuation.
