Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

You identify the main contrast: women recorded higher activity in every age group from 25 onwards, while men led among 15–24-year-olds. You also report several accurate figures, including the female peak of 53.3% and the male low of 39.5%, and describe the men’s decline followed by a rise. However, one important comparison is misstated: you say women aged 35–44 accounted for 39.5%, but that is the male figure; the female rate was 52.5%. Calling this the fourth-place result also obscures the actual pattern. The overview could be more complete by noting that women’s rates were relatively stable around 49–53% through ages 25–64, then fell among the oldest group. More precise comparisons would strengthen the summary.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, an overview, and separate discussion of women and men. This makes the main gender contrast easy to follow, and phrases such as “Meanwhile” and “On contrast” signal shifts between points. However, the progression within the women’s paragraph is not fully logical: it moves from the highest figures to a misidentified low, then to the oldest and youngest groups, before repeating that women led after 25. Some linking is mechanical, and “On contrast” does not form a natural transition. Grouping the age ranges in order, or comparing both sexes within each age range, would create a smoother progression and reduce repetition. Clearer references would also help readers track which figures belong to which sex.

Lexical Resource: Band 6.0

You use an adequate range of task-related vocabulary, including “percentage,” “age groups,” “highest,” “decreased,” and “increased,” so the chart’s main patterns are generally understandable. There are also attempts at more varied phrasing, such as “dominated” and “maintained the top position.” Some choices are inaccurate or unnatural, however: “Elder women” is not an appropriate label for the oldest age group, and “On contrast” is an incorrect collocation. “Taking the 4th place” and “percentage accounting for” are also awkward in this context. Aim for precise chart language such as “the oldest group,” “by contrast,” and “stood at.” These improvements would make the comparisons more natural and exact.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, and several sentences communicate the data clearly, such as “Men’s activity decreased with age … and increased after 45.” However, some grammatical errors remain across the response. For example, “women between 35 to 44 years percentage accounting for” lacks a clear subject and finite verb, while “Elder women and men above 65 years has” has a subject–verb agreement problem. The opening phrase “in percentage” and constructions such as “at the age between 45 to 54 years” also show difficulty with articles and prepositions. Check that each sentence has a complete clause, that plural subjects take plural verbs, and that age ranges are expressed consistently. Greater control of these patterns would improve accuracy.
