The percentage, of Australian men and women that spent time on daily physical activities in the year 2010. These are represented in the graph by x and y axis. The Age groups are plotted on the horizontal x-axis and the proportion of physical activity on the vertical y-axis.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5
You report most of the chart’s figures accurately, including the male peak among 15–24-year-olds and the female high of 53.3% for ages 45–54. However, the response mainly lists values rather than summarising the key patterns, and it lacks a clear overview. The central comparison—that men are more active only in the youngest group, while women lead in every other age group—is not stated. Nor do you highlight the contrasting trends: male participation falls to 35–44 before rising, whereas female participation generally rises to 45–54 and then declines. Some descriptions also misrepresent regular activity as “daily” activity or suggest people “invested a lot of time,” which the chart does not show. Select and explain the main trends, not just each figure.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response has a basic sequence: an introduction, a description of the axes, and then figures for the age groups in order. Connectors such as “Furthermore” and “Finally” help signal movement through the data. However, the second paragraph repeats the introduction rather than giving an overview, and the body reads as a series of separate age-group statements, with little comparison between men and women or across age groups. Some transitions, including “First off,” are conversational, while “Approximately” does not clearly connect the following information to the previous point. Grouping the age ranges by pattern—for example, the youngest group versus the remaining groups—would create clearer progression and reduce the list-like effect.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use relevant chart vocabulary such as “percentage,” “proportion,” “age groups,” and “represented,” and the reader can generally understand the comparisons. There is also some attempt to vary wording, for example “individuals” and “generations.” However, several choices are inaccurate or unnatural for this task: “daily physical activities” changes the meaning of regular activity, “invested a lot of time” is unsupported by percentage data, and “peer group” and “women fellows” are unsuitable collocations. “Genration” is misspelled, and repeated use of “age group” and “demonstrated by numbers” limits precision. Prefer direct, accurate terms such as “participation rate” and “the proportion who exercised regularly,” and use simple wording rather than strained synonyms.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt both simple and more extended sentence forms, and most of the figures remain understandable within their sentences. However, control is uneven, particularly in the opening and in sentences with extra clauses. “The percentage, of Australian men and women…” is a sentence fragment, while “The Age groups are plotted…” is awkwardly joined to the preceding explanation. In “the last and oldest age group of all of them ranging from 65 and over that age are 46.7 and 47.1%,” the subject and verb do not agree, and the sentence structure obscures what the percentages describe. Punctuation and spacing around commas and percentages are also inconsistent. Use complete, direct sentences with a clear subject and verb, and check agreement and punctuation when combining information.
